Responsibilities
  • Coordinate site safety meetings with staff and trade personnel to clearly communicate our safety expectations, policies and procedures.
  • Assign, track, manage, and coordinate training requirements for company employees to ensure compliance with legislative and company mandates based on the employees’ job profile.
  • Participate and co chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings across all construction sites and head office.
  • Record notes and distribute minutes from various safety and JHSC meetings to relevant personnel.
  • Assist the Human Resources Manager with new employee onboarding and safety orientation, along with other administrative responsibilities as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Management team to ensure all required safety certifications and paperwork are obtained from contracted trades and maintaining accurate records of these documents.
  • Setting up new project safety requirements, including the establishment of a Health and Safety board, coordinating signage, and other related tasks.
  • After proper training, knowledge and experience on site, occasionally participate in workplace inspections, audits, and incident or accident investigations to ensure that equipment, materials, and production processes do not present a safety or health hazard to employees and trade workers.
  • Participate and as needed host, safety talk meetings with trade workers observed in unsafe situations to relay best practice safe work procedures and legislative requirements which pertain to specific work.
  • Acting as a point of contact for health and safety needs across all company sectors.
