The Role We're on the lookout for a proactive and experienced HSE Advisor to join our team at our Melbourne HQ. In this role, you’ll be a key driver in promoting a culture of health, safety, and environmental excellence across our projects. From identifying risks to implementing safety strategies, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our people and workplaces remain safe. You’ll also lead incident investigations and deliver practical solutions to help prevent future occurrences. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Providing practical, hands-on HSE support across assigned projects Identifying potential hazards and drive preventative strategies Developing and maintaining safety policies and procedures in collaboration with stakeholders Conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, audits, and investigations Delivering clear recommendations and champion best practice Supporting ongoing HSE reporting, compliance, and performance tracking About You Suitable applicants will be/have: Degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline; Internal auditing qualification (ISO 9001, 14001 and/or AS/NZS 4801), desirable; Certificate IV – Training and Assessment, desirable. 3+ years’ experience as an HSE Coordinator / Advisor in a similar organisation Solid understanding of HSE legislation, systems, and standards (ISO, AS/NZS) Proven ability to coach and influence key stakeholders Strong business acumen and risk-based thinking Excellent communication, reporting, and time management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint To find out more about SMEC, please visit our careers page at www.smec.com/careers Link to benefits: http://www.smec.com/en_au/careers/your-career-with-SMEC All recruitment activities go through our Recruitment & Talent function and currently, this role doesn’t require agency input.
