JOB SUMMARY

Z’gamok Construction, a subsidiary of Z’gamok Enterprises Inc., an Indigenous business fully owned by Sagamok Anishnawbek, provides a diverse range of services across multiple business segments, including construction, haulage, surface and underground mining services, and commercial janitorial.
Z’gamok Construction is recruiting a hard-working, self-motivated individual with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator.
The Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of all Z’gamok Group employees, subcontractors, and visitors on various work sites. This role ensures that all company HSE policies, programs, and procedures are effectively implemented, maintained, and aligned with current legislative and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of provincial and federal HSE legislation and regulations.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar HSE role, preferably in construction or mining.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certification such as CRSP, CHSC, or NCSO is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with applicable health and safety legislation
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all worksites to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Lead incident investigations, prepare detailed reports, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Distributes daily and weekly toolbox discussions to Site Supervisors
  • Update and maintain site training records.
  • Responsible for safety orientation and safety training; training matrix
  • Provide HSE training and guidance to employees, contractors, and visitors to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Maintain records and documentation in accordance with legal and corporate requirements.
  • Support project team in understanding health and safety obligations for various projects.
  • Stay current with changes to health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices, and communicate updates to management and staff.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to proactively manage safety risks and promote continuous improvement.
  • Attends and assists with routine weekly and monthly meetings and associated reporting.
