QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Master’s Degree is an asset
  • CRSP certification (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) required
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive HSE leadership experience
  • At least 7 years of direct experience in construction safety management
  • Experience in manufacturing environments considered a strong advantage
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and provincial/state safety and environmental regulations
  • Proven success in developing and implementing comprehensive HSE programs
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders, from field workers to executives
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using safety metrics and software tools
  • Skilled in incident investigation, risk assessment, and regulatory reporting
  • Strong presentation and public speaking abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel to different locations and work on-site when needed

Responsibilities
  • Lead the organization’s health, safety, and environmental strategy across construction and manufacturing operations
  • Develop and enforce safety policies that align with business goals and exceed industry standards
  • Promote a company-wide safety culture with a focus on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Set and track performance goals such as TRIR reduction and achievement of zero-incident targets
  • Direct all field safety efforts, including creating job-specific safety plans for complex construction projects
  • Oversee site inspections, hazard assessments, and regular safety audits across all active work sites
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable construction safety regulations
  • Drive and manage the company’s pursuit and maintenance of COR certification
  • Design and deliver tailored training programs for workers, supervisors, and management
  • Develop emergency response procedures and ensure readiness across all locations
  • Implement proactive risk management strategies for both field and plant operations
  • Manage environmental programs, including impact assessments, waste reduction, and emissions control
  • Ensure adherence to EPA guidelines and other regional environmental standards
  • Introduce sustainability practices to reduce the environmental footprint of operations
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and oversee corrective actions
  • Represent the company during regulatory audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
  • Standardize safety protocols between construction and manufacturing environments
  • Supervise and develop the internal HSE team and ensure alignment with strategic objectives
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation for all safety and environmental programs
  • Stay informed of regulatory changes and industry trends to adjust company policies accordingly
  • Travel as needed to construction and manufacturing sites in Ontario and the U.S. as required.
