Canduct Industries is a leading manufacturer in electrical insulation, primarily used for cooling in oil cooled transformers. Our team is expanding, and we are currently seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Specialist to help us achieve our safety goals and support the well-being of our employees.

JOB SUMMARY

The Health & Safety Specialist will develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive health and safety program tailored to the needs of our company and its employees. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to inspire a culture of safety across all levels of the organization.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety Management or a related field.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA and environmental legislation.

SKILLS:

  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities.
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead group discussions effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Results-driven approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee plant safety performance, including tracking metrics, injury reports, and safety compliance.
  • Ensure employees are trained to perform their tasks efficiently and safely, including proper equipment use and PPE standards.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) for various types of machinery to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.
  • Develop and implement a robust Health & Safety Program to create a safe workplace.
  • Assist with safety training programs such as Lockout/Tagout, WHMIS, and forklift operation.
  • Manage incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain hazardous product records and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Organize and monitor PPE inventory and health and safety supplies.
  • Provide ongoing training to supervisors, Health & Safety Committee (HSC), and employees.
  • Participate in equipment design reviews, ensuring compliance with OSHA and applicable standards.
  • Administer Worker’s Compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and injury case management.
  • Lead internal and external audits related to health and safety.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes and ensure compliance across the organization.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports for KPIs and other safety metrics.
  • Represent the company during potential OSHA visits and regulatory inspections.
