Our Petrolia, Ontario location is currently seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist to join the team!
As Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist at Waterville TG Inc., located in Petrolia, Ontario, you will be responsible to provide health, safety and environmental knowledge, support and administration to the Plant.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Coordinates and administers the Petrolia plant’s Health and Safety Management System (HSMS)
- Facilitates and supports environmental program requirements to manage waste, pollution, spills and meet environmental regulatory requirements
- Coordinates inspection audits of facilities and equipment to identify health and safety hazards and follow-up with corrective or preventative actions
- Coaches, mentors and acts as an advocate to assist in implementation of the health and safety program throughout the organization as a whole, and promotes the safety culture through observation and activities
- Performs all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations
- Maintains records and coordinates investigations of work-related incidents including: injuries, illnesses and property damage and makes recommendations to reduce or eliminate those instances through corrective and preventative actions
- Reviews new products, equipment, layout and work methods for potential hazards and recommends modification before introduction
- Performs audits and inspections as required
- Meets various reporting requirements, both internally and externally
- Prepares job safety analysis data, and physical demands analyses
- Provides support and recommendations with the incident investigation process
- Prepares and provides Health and Safety related material to newly hired employees in conjunction with the Trainer
- Ensures required safety-related training is up to date for employees as well as contractors and other visitors
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- Completion of a post-secondary program in a related field preferred
- Three (3) or more years of related industry experience in a similar role required
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required, experience in automotive preferred
- Current Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification preferred
- Safety-related Professional designation / accreditation is an asset
- Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite of Products, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
