JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health & Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our workplace safety programs. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment, and minimizing risks associated with occupational health.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years’ experience in Health & Safety role – preferably with a background in Construction
  • Knowledgeable in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations
  • Must be able to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment
  • Certified Joint Health & Safety Committee Member Required
  • Possess a valid working at heights certification, First Aid and CPR is an asset

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a College Diploma in Health and Safety or related discipline
  • Designations such as NCSO or CRSP considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual in French/English considered an asset

Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily site activities to ensure full compliance with safety regulations and the projects Health and Safety Plan
  • Conduct safety inspections weekly, risk assessments, and audits – with a focus on high-risk work such as crane operations, PPE compliance, working at heights/fall protection, and hoisting and rigging
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with applicable health and safety legislation
  • Create and deliver daily safety talks
  • Monitor training matrix to ensure training compliance for all workers/subcontractors on site
  • Onboard any new hires with safety orientation, subcontractors and visitors included
  • Complete and lead incident investigations, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective actions and report findings
  • Lead Monthly Joint Health and Safety Committee and Worker Trade Committee meetings and inspections
  • Maintain detailed records of daily safety logs, incident reports, permits, and safety meeting minutes
  • Work collaboratively with the construction and project management teams to embed a strong safety culture onsite
  • Experience in managing WSIB claims and the return-to-work process
  • Ensure all PPE is fully stocked and the workers have what they need to work safely
