Description

We are looking for a motivated Full-time Safety & Compliance Officer to work out of our Winnipeg, MB branch that strives for high customer service, teamwork, and efficiency.
The Safety & Compliance Officer will be responsible for the overall successful administration of the Safety, GDP and Transportation Programs. The Safety & Compliance Manager will work with the Branch Manager of Winnipeg, Regina, and Saskatoon and the warehouse management teams to facilitate a safe & compliant Operations team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Safety shoes (Must be steel-toed boots)
  • Extensive background in one or all the following: Safety, GDP, and Transportation
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certified will be considered a strong asset
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English
  • Take ownership of and successfully resolve problems as required
  • Able to travel between branches (Saskatoon, Regina, & Winnipeg)
Responsibilities
  • Assist management, teammates and safety committee to develop and implement proactive strategies to ensure the safe operation of the entire facility
  • Ensure all teammates are aware of and adhere to all safety standards, rules, regulations, and policies
  • Ensure safety committee meetings are being held on a monthly basis and the minutes are posted within a week of the meeting
  • Conduct health & safety inspections
  • Ensure investigation into accidents, injuries, near misses and occupational illnesses are conducted
  • Document any irregularities as they pertain to safety
  • Ensure WCB claims are handled properly, according to established timelines and done so in a professional manner between teammates, WCB, and our third-party claim management organization
  • Perform or assist with the quarterly internal and annual COR safety audits as required
  • Ensure ongoing training and development of all teammates in food safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to all food safety standards outlined in GDP policy and procedures
  • Attend regular meetings and maintain consistent communication with management on the progress of the facilities food safety program
  • Conduct GDP inspections monthly and document deviations
  • Monitor HACCP and recall plans, update annually and make changes accordingly
  • Ensure food safety irregularities are conducted
  • Tracking of driver abstracts, driver audits, driver medicals and driver licensing to ensure each is current and valid
  • Maintenance of driver/truck files/required documentation for company & provincial/federal transportation compliance
  • Support & training of proper log use and provincial/federal hours of service rules and regulations
