REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • You should have an excellent command of the following skills: computers, communications, problem solving and leadership skills; as well as the ability to work as a member of a strong team
  • Working knowledge of plant operations with respect to food processing is a must
  • This position requires the ability to walk, climb ladders, use tools, work in confined spaces, and extreme temperatures
  • Able to work both in an office and in an industrial environment for long periods of time
  • Must be willing to travel and/or move to other ADM facilities
  • This position could involve sporadic off hours and weekend work should plant needs require it
  • Communicate status updates and suggestions for improvements

EDUCATION OR WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Board of Certifies Safety Professional (BCSP) Certification would be an asset
  • Certified in First Aid, CPR, & AED Training
  • Minimum of five years work experience in a dedicated health and safety position with knowledge of industrial environmental/regulatory compliance or degree in Safety
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in related/relevant field
  • Environmental/environmental health engineering
  • Occupational health and industrial hygiene
Responsibilities
  • Constantly striving to achieve the goal of “Only Zero is Acceptable” through employee engagement, leading by example and thinking about innovation
  • Ensure that a safe work environment is maintained at all times by applying company standards, ensuring that unsafe behaviors and conditions are corrected, and followed up on during regular inspections
  • Assist in accident and incident investigations and follow up on corrective actions resulting from accident and incident investigations
  • Be a champion of Near Miss reporting
  • Have a working knowledge in Provincial and Federal law
  • Must have a strong foundation related to Joint Health and Safety Committees
  • Work in collaboration with the EHS Area Manager for the implementation and enforcement of al ADM health and safety principles. Provide mandatory trainings to all managers, hourly colleagues and entrepreneurs on the suitability of these programs
  • Ensure that the site is consistently compliant with all regulations, policies and guidelines of ADM, the WSIB as well as provincial and federal governments
  • Develop, implement and maintain current programs, records and reports related to health and safety, government and environmental compliance
  • Communicate daily to management on issues related to facility safety, food safety and environmental issues
  • Oversee client, third-party and regulatory audits in their respective areas of responsibility
  • Assist in obtaining passing grades by maintaining constant availability during audits
  • Ensure that corrective action plans are implemented so that any deficiencies identified by an audit are addressed in a timely manner
