Description

Conrad Energy are currently recruiting for an experienced HSQE Manager to join their growing team.
Conrad Energy’s - Operations Team is seeking a HSQE Manager to join our operations team, which typically builds, owns and operates transmission connected and embedded power and grid stability projects comprising of a range of technologies including reciprocating gas engine or battery storage plants, utility scale solar, wind and synchronous condenser technology across 80+ individual locations across the UK.
Reporting to the Head of HSQE, this role is responsible for providing professional health and safety leadership within Conrad Energy and to all levels of staff – from field staff to the Executive Management Team. They will support and advise the management teams, employees and, where applicable, external contractors.
The postholder will improve performance through the implementation of health and safety management systems, including ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001 and other current standards and legislation and will successfully design, deliver and maintain a health and safety change programme to embed and drive a positive safety culture across the organisation as well as ensuring the timely delivery of associated underpinning health and safety management action plans and operational programmes. The post holder will oversee consistency of delivery of health and safety training measure and identify and pursue significant issues.
Applicants will need to hold a driving license and have the ability to travel as our sites are across the UK.
Location to be agreed, hybrid working with frequent travel to various locations across the UK expected.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Good technical knowledge and experience of health and safety regulations and legislation.
· Ability to identify health and safety requirements to ensure continued improvement and compliance.
· Ability to grow and improve the safety culture throughout the company.
· Ability to identify and prioritise workload to ensure that time and resources are deployed efficiently.
· Ability to communicate often technical information appropriately to all levels within the company.

KNOWLEDGE

Essential:
· Knowledge and experience within the power and renewables sector.
· Sound understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation & regulations
Desirable:
· Knowledge of alternative technologies such as battery and solar systems.
· Knowledge of managing extra high voltage transmission connection applications

SKILLS

Essential:
· Interpersonal, relationship-building and networking skills.

Desirable:

EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:
· NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent level certification.
· Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
· Management qualification.
· NEBOSH Diploma or NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction

Responsibilities

· To carry out all your duties with health and safety as number one priority. Responsibilities for your own Health and Safety, for the Health and Safety of your work colleagues and any others who may be affected by the operations under your responsibility or control.
· Support the Head of HSQE for all health and safety matters across Conrad Energy, identifying and responding to current legal and best practice requirements.
· Focusing on KPIs, identify when improvements to operating practices are needed. To administer and implement appropriate HSQE procedures and practices, working with and developing the company’s digital management systems.
· Support the Head of HSQE to implement a health and safety leadership change program across the organisation, including regular reporting to internal line management, departmental heads and the executive team.
· Deliver the agreed strategic direction for effective health and safety management and appropriate workplace wellbeing programs for Conrad Energy employees (including mental health first aid)
· Working with the Head of HSQE and departmental heads to support the review and development of all aspects of Conrad Energy health, safety and wellbeing policies and activity, and ensure that it is implemented consistently across the organisation
· Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming health and safety legislation and ensure that Conrad Energy has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance and other requirements
· Work proactively with managers and other key employees to establish and maintain a program of continuous improvement in the management of health, safety and wellbeing within their areas of responsibility.
· Work closely with the departmental heads and colleagues to ensure compliance requirements are being controlled, documented and maintained in accordance with regulations and guidelines
· Ensure that rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems are in place and followed across the organisation
· Liaise with HR on health and wellbeing issues particularly where a risk assessment has identified a need, including supporting HR and line managers in carrying out individual risk assessments when required.
· Oversee and undertake audits where appropriate and ensure an action plan with SMART objectives is established to address issues identified
· Identify, provide and/or procure an effective health and safety related training regime.
· Manage and coach and enable the Health and Safety Officer to support the delivery of the change program including equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage and maintain the ISO management systems.
· Represent the company within any trade and industry bodies.
