Overview The Health Unit Assistant (HUA) provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure smooth operations within a healthcare unit. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The HUA serves as a central point of contact for staff, patients, families, and other departments, assisting with administrative functions, patient flow, and assisting with unit activities. Responsibilities • Prioritizes dissemination of information using available technology.• Assists with maintaining readiness of patient care equipment.• Effectively and accurately maintains patient records.• Manages supplies and patient care supplies, i.e., order, obtain and store supplies. • Must be able to transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher. • Must be able to manipulate cart loaded with supplies. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: Unit clerk experience or experience in a medical office setting preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English. Multicultural Sensitivity. Microsoft Office-basic computer skills. Customer/Patient focus. Critical thinking skills using independent judgement in making decisions
