Position Description
Working Title: Health & Well-Being Assistant

Classification Title: Health Services Assistant
Classification Salary Range: $4,098 - $7,411 per month
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $4,098 - $5,000 per month.
The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Five years of progressively responsible technical clerical work including or supplemented by two years of lead responsibility including or supplemented by experience in budget control and/or development of diverse and extensive administrative guidelines for varied office operations.
  • Education: Job-related education above the high school level may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for year basis.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to plan, organize and implement a variety of office operational and equipment needs based on specific program requirements.
  • Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques.
  • Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Must have strong customer services orientation.
  • Knowledge, sensitivity and ability to work with students, faculty, staff and administrators from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience
  • Two (2) years’ work experience in an administrative position involving, study analysis and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs
  • Thorough knowledge of CSU policies, procedures, and ability to research outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Knowledge of budget policies and account procedures. Knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and packages.
  • Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
  • Must be comfortable with dealing with multiple work priorities and projects and being member of a team, but at the same time, be able to act independently in handling varied and complex work assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the directors of several departments within the Health & Well-Being cluster in administering the formulation, interpretation, and implementation of policies and procedures concerning the administrative and programmatic aspects of the services offered.
  • Make recommendations for the development or revision of internal policies, as well as being responsible for the implementation of necessary procedures to put such policies into effect.
  • Exercises considerable independent judgment in assisting staff within the units to resolve administrative problems and concerns, including providing troubleshooting for myriad of office administrative problems.
  • Prepared reports and collects and compiles data to be used in planning, meeting, and evaluating programmatic goals for the different departments upon request.
  • Meets with students and consults and advises them regarding services, policies and procedures, and problems or concerns regarding Health & Well-Being. Provides referral to other campus departments as appropriate.
  • Maintains confidential and highly sensitive records and other confidential materials.
