REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a one (1) year certificate, or currently enrolled with the first year completed, in an accredited Health Care program.
  • Basic life support certification (BLS)
  • Minimum of three (3) months of recent (within the last 3 years) experience providing patient care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sterility and aseptic technique
  • Demonstrated knowledge of established Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of body mechanics, and safe lift and transfer practices
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately communicate and manage a change in patient condition
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in oral and written formats with patients, the public, colleagues and other health disciplines
  • Demonstrated and proven ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care team
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience about the functioning of a nursing unit
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
  • Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the HospitalBilingualism preferred (French/English)
