The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic clinical team as a Band 3 Health Care Assistant. The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in care provision role
  • Demonstrable experience in a primary or secondary care setting
  • Familiar with all Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships
  • Demonstrable phlebotomy skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail, accurate record keeping and report
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Health Care Assistant, you will support our clinical team in delivering high-quality research focused on improving global health outcomes. You will play a key role in assisting with patient care, collecting samples, promoting research at public engagement events, clinical administration and maintaining high standards of clinical support during research trials.
The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team at the Accelerator Research Clinic, an 18-bed outpatient research space, and the Human Challenge Facility, a new 12-bed inpatient isolation facility, coordinating Controlled Human Infection Models and vaccine trials within LSTM. Our clinical trials are a catalyst for the delivery and development of new treatments and vaccines, so we can continue to have a global impact on infection treatment and control.

CLERICAL/ ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

  • Reception/telephone duties
  • Filing and Archiving
  • Assist with the participant appointment system

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in care provision role
  • Demonstrable experience in a primary or secondary care setting
  • Familiar with all Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships
