Qualifications: Care ACT Certificate / Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care or prepared to work towards it

The post holder has a responsibility to themselves and others in relation to managing risk, health and safety and will be required to work within the policies and procedures laid down by the home.

Responsibilities
  • To assist in providing the highest standards of personal care and attention for the service users under the direction and supervision of Senior Nurses.
  • To participate fully in the overall care of the service user with other staff. To assist with washing, dressing, toileting and personal hygiene as per the care plan.
  • To provide clinical support to senior staff.
  • Duties in the Dining room include serving the service users, assisting service users to eat, clearing away of dirty dishes, wiping down tables etc.
  • Assist with the implementation of planned nursing care under the direction and supervision of senior staff.
  • To help provide essential physical and mental stimulation by participating in recreational and social activities with service users individually, or in a group.
  • To make and change beds, tidy rooms, bathrooms, toilets and do any cleaning where necessary. Ensure that commode pots are cleaned and disinfected immediately after use.
  • Show responsibility and care towards resident’s property, i.e. personal clothing, dentures, glasses and all other belongings, ensuring that these are properly recorded and marked. If any item is in need of repair to report it to the senior staff/Administrator.
  • Answer call systems, the door bell and the telephone promptly.
  • Greet visitors, ensure they use the visitor’s log and escort to appropriate resident’s room.
  • To be polite and helpful at all times, i.e. appropriate conduct and attitude towards service users, visitors and colleagues.
  • To read and write reports and take part in staff and service user’s meetings as directed.
  • To perform such other duties as required or directed by the senior staff, which may reasonably fall within the scope or range of the post, to ensure the comfort of the service users and/or the smooth running of the home.
