Description:

As a valued member of the team you will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of Doctors, Nurses, Emergency Care Assistants and Admin Staff and be responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating of nursing care within Ambulatory Emergency Care.
You will work with a team of doctors, nurses, specialist teams and other Healthcare Support Workers to care for SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care) patients on a busy Day Unit.
The unit is open Monday - Friday 8am-9pm, weekends and bank holidays 9am-9pm. You must be able to work shifts across all days.
It is an essential requirement that you take reasonable care of the cleanliness of your working environment and always adhere to infection control policies and procedures ensuring you use hand cleaning agents appropriately.
The post holder is expected to promote and implement the Trust’s equal opportunities policy.

Infection prevention is the responsibility of everyone. Employees are required to strictly adhere to the infection control policy and should actively encourage other staff and visitors to comply.
Work in other areas of the Trust when required.
The post holder must perform any other duties as reasonably requested by the Unit Matron.
The post holder will be subject to performance review in appraisal and in developing his/her own objectives

Undertake all mandatory training as per Trust Policy as well as participate in ongoing training and updates as appropriate to demonstrate level of competency.
Ensure excellent communication skills are used when documenting care, taking messages, or passing on information when appropriate, considering data protection and use of sensitive information.
Taking responsibility for ordering of stock and equipment and ensuring stock levels are maintained within the unit.
To always act in a courteous and professional manner within the unit and when assisting with patient needs and care.
Undertake initial assessments of patients attending Ambulatory Emergency Care under supervision of a Registered Nurse and document findings.
Perform Venepuncture & Cannulation when required.
Perform ECGs when required.
Run urines, BHCG when required.
Make decisions based on set parameters and protocols within a competency-based framework to instigate appropriate investigations when deemed competent to do so.
Organise and manage workload flexibly and effectively to meet the needs of the patients and service.
Ensure patient confidentiality is always maintained and compliance with data protection act and trust policies related to patient care.
To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and cover a range of shift times to ensure service delivery is maintained
