ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
  • Experience of working within a GP practice.
  • Experience of wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy and the administration of vaccines would be desirable (but is not essential).

ABOUT US

The Writtle Surgery is a 3 partner semi-rural dispensing practice of approximately 8000 patients. We have 3 salaried GPs, and a fully staffed team including practice nurses, dispensers, secretaries and administrators, clinical pharmacists and receptionists.

Reporting to the lead nurse you will be working with a team of 3 practice nurses in a supportive and caring environment and will be able to apply clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas, such as:

  • new patient health checks and NHS health checks,
  • restocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines,
  • clearing and restocking of consultation rooms,
  • preparing and maintaining clinical rooms and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations, coil insertion/removals and contraceptive implant insertion/removals,
  • providing valuable health promotion and education for patients, their families, and carers.
  • supporting the team to ensure that regular equipment checks/water temperatures are undertaken
Responsibilities

The Writtle Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join our our close-knit, friendly team on a part-time basis, for 2 - 3 days per week. This role is offered on a one-year fixed term contract, to cover maternity leave.
