HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT- TALL TREES MEMORY UNIT

Tall Trees Memory Unit embodies person-centred care with strong values, providing individualized care for people living with dementia. Our focus is on residents’ needs, engaging in activities to foster emotional connections. Embracing flexibility, our days flow naturally without strict routines, prioritizing residents’ rights over standardized procedures.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated healthcare assistant to join our team in providing personalized care and support to individuals living with dementia. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in dementia care, along with a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents. As a vital member of our team, you will demonstrate empathy, patience, and a person-centred approach to care.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • QQI Level 5 Award - Healthcare or relevant qualification
  • Excellent track record as a high performing Healthcare worker
  • Must Dementia and Elder care experience (2 years + experience)
  • Ability to motivate, supervise and inspire colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent personal care abilities
  • Previous experience as a healthcare assistant or similar role in a healthcare setting, preferably in dementia care.
  • Willingness to undergo additional training and professional development in dementia care and related topics.

OR:

  • Nursing Degree / Allied Health Degree / Relevant Healthcare Degree

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, engaging in meaningful interactions and activities tailored to individual preferences and abilities.
  • Support residents in participating in recreational activities and therapeutic programs designed to promote social engagement.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other interdisciplinary team members to implement individualized care plans and ensure continuity of care.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment for residents.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education initiatives to enhance knowledge and skills in dementia care and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of dementia-friendly initiatives within the unit.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with residents and their families.
