JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Wicklow Community Services. The Healthcare Assistant will be responsible for providing quality care and support to our patients in their homes. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, be reliable, and have a passion for caring for others.
Please note that you must be based in East Wicklow. Wicklow Community Services covers areas including Ashford, Roundwood, Glendalough, Glenmalure, Rathdrum and Brittas Bay.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of basic care techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
  • Reliable and trustworthy.
  • Ability to work alternative weekends and some evenings.
  • Access to own car and clean driving licence

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support is preferable or a minimum of Care Skills and Care of the Older Person modules.Please note that this training is available through KWETB or online training.
  • Experience working with elderly or disabled care recipients.
Responsibilities
  • Assist care recipients with activities of daily living, such as washing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Help care recipients with mobility and transfers.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to care recipients.
  • Assist with meal preparation and feeding.
  • Monitor, record and report any changes/issues to the line manager.
  • Assist with medication prompt.
  • Keep accurate records of care and activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for care recipients.
