Location: Brattleboro Retreat – Brattleboro, Vermont
Schedule: Full-time | 9:00 AM – 6:30 PM (occasional 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Rate of Pay: $20.00/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook II to join our culinary team at Brattleboro Retreat. This role is ideal for a skilled cook who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and is passionate about preparing high-quality meals in a healthcare setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, and reaching required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior cooking experience in an institutional or healthcare setting is required.
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes independently.
  • ServeSafe certification is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered events.
  • Follow standardized recipes and adhere to all food safety, preparation, and allergen guidelines.
  • Operate kitchen equipment and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and all regulatory and safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively with staff and supervisors.
  • Maintain operational awareness and adapt to changing needs in a healthcare environment.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
