Description

This is a full time (37) permanent post, working Monday to Friday 0900 to 1700.
An opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Scientist Practitioner to join Laboratory Genetics, which forms part of the West of Scotland Centre for Genomic Medicine. The laboratory provides a high quality cytogenetic and molecular diagnostics service to the West of Scotland, population >2.7 million, and to the whole of Scotland through the Scottish Strategic Network for Genomic Medicine.
The laboratory is based in the state of the art Laboratory Medicine building at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. You will join our team of >130 scientific and technical staff, and work as part of a team to provide technical support to the scientific staff of the Laboratory Genetics department.
You will also be responsible for the day-to-day processing of patient specimens, performing laboratory tasks for a set of routine and non-routine laboratory procedures, and will analyse and interpret genetic diagnostic tests.
You should have a first or second class BSc (Hons) or equivalent in a relevant biological science with previous laboratory experience, preferably in a diagnostic laboratory.. Please note that Laboratory Genetics is not an IBMS Approved Training Laboratory
