Healthcare Scientist Practitioner Specialist (Analyst) Band 6 Permanent, 37 hrs per week £41,608 - £50,702
An opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Scientist Practitioner Specialist to join Laboratory Genetics, which forms part of the West of Scotland Centre for Genomic Medicine. The laboratory provides a high quality genomics service to the West of Scotland, population >2.7 million, and to the whole of Scotland through the Scottish Strategic Network for Genomic Medicine. Based at the state of the art Laboratory Medicine building at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, the Laboratory Genetics department is responsible for the testing of inherited genetic disease and acquired genetic disease (solid and haematological malignancy).
You will join our team of >130 scientific and technical staff, and work as part of a team to provide analytical support to the scientific staff of the Laboratory Genetics department. You will be required to take responsibility for the complex analysis and reporting of a range of germline genetic disorders, working effectively with staff in multiple roles when doing so. Good communication, team working and supervisory skills are essential.
It is essential that you have a BSc (Hons) in a biological science and a post graduate qualification to diploma level or equivalent level of knowledge. State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is desirable. You should have experience in a genetics diagnostic laboratory and with diagnostic techniques and software.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm, with one shorter day in line with the latest AfC terms and conditions (total 37h per week).
