Job Summary: The Healthcare Support Specialist is one of the primary points of contact for the medical office. The Healthcare Support Specialist helps coordinate the care of the patients and serves as a liaison with the patient, medical staff, and provider of care.  Key Responsibilities:  * Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phone.  * Registers walk-in new patients and updates and verifies existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information, including personal and insurance or financial information.  * Checks patients in through intake facilitating patient flow by notifying the provider of the patient’s arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff.  * Schedules in house MRI’s and referrals.   * Scheduling and rescheduling of future patient appointments.  * Collecting patient copays, coinsurances, and allowable payments and reconciling these payments at the end of each day in your daily batch ledger.  * Verifying Insurance  * Prepping Clinic Schedules   * Responds to patients, prospective patients, and visitors' inquiries courteously.  * Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.  * Keeps office supplies within the clinic adequately stocked by anticipating inventory.  * All other duties as assigned.   Required Skills & Qualifications:  * Maintaining a consistent positive attitude and cheerful demeanor.   * Communicate Effectively  * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment  * Multi-tasker  * Attention to detail  * Teamwork / Collaboration  * Ability and desire to learn new things and improve processes  * Ability to listen and understand patient and provider concerns  * Self and situational awareness  Education & Experience:  * High school diploma or equivalent  * Medical Experience Preferred  * 6 months, plus of relevant experience scheduling in a medical office environment  * Experience working with medical EHR, Athena experience preferred.  * Experience in Orthopedics or Pain Management is a plus    Work Environment & Physical Requirements:   * Travel to cover different locations may be required  * Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time  * Able to lift 25 pounds or more
