We are currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and proactive Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our pre-op assessment team.
The department runs daily clinics, Monday to Friday, 0800-1800, covering pre assessment for all elective surgical specialities at ASPH NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate should have recent health care assistant experience, ideally within a pre assessment or outpatients setting and hold the care certificate.
You will be able to manage your time well, using initiative and prioritising appropriately
When working in clinic, you must provide a welcoming professional environment, be able to assist patients during their appointment and manage efficient patient flow through the pre op department
You will undertake assigned tasks involving direct care as directed by the nurse-in-charge as per Department policies, supporting the clinic nurses. This will include patient observations, ECG and phlebotomy when required training has been undertaken
Excellent communication skills and telephone manner are essential as this role involves calling patients who have already attended their pre assessment appointment. You will be completing a checklist a week before their planned admission for surgery to ensure their operation goes ahead smoothly, ensuring that any concerns are highlighted appropriately and promptly to a registered nurse.
We require flexibility within the role to ensure that all aspects of our service are covered, which will also include other administrative and nursing HCA duties to ensure a consistently high level of service for our patients
