Band 3 Health Care Support Workers required to work in the Neuro Enhanced Care Unit on Ward 43.
NECU predominantly cares for elective and emergency Neurosurgical patients as well as supporting patients from the Trauma and Neuro Group requiring enhanced observations.
The post holder will be required to carry out a wide range of duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and with minimal supervision will ensure that high quality care is delivered to all patients.
The post holder will also help to support less experienced members of the team, adhering to Trust Policies at all times.

Responsible for own actions, ensuring all patient interactions/observations are communicated to the appropriate healthcare practitioner.
Undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks, extending range following training in defined practices. Ensure referral to the appropriate healthcare practitioner where appropriate.
Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management e.g. cannulation/ venepuncture.
Organise own daily workload e.g. use and cleaning of identified medical and non-medical equipment
Manage the setting up of specific clinics ensuring clinics are well stocked and ready for use.
Order stores ensure stock rotation and adhere to budgets as set out by the clinic manager. 7.Documentation must be completed in a timely manner and adhere to clinic standards.
Ensure that specimens are labelled correctly and delivered to the right department.

Support less experienced members of staff in their orientation to the clinic and role
Utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient data
Support the team in expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need
Support staff and patients exposed to difficult situations arising in the clinical area e.g. after receipt of bad news or following an unexpected event
