POSITION SUMMARY: The Healthy Living Director develops, supervises, and administers the Health and Well-Being programs: Wellness floor, group exercise classes, personal training, and other healthy living programs. The incumbent will bring the department to the next level by expanding our fitness and wellness programs to meet the needs and demands of our membership and community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Direct and administer total operation of the Wellness Department including the interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operation. * Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff to achieve goals. Conduct ongoing assessment of staff functions to determine required core competencies and skills; design and implement trainings as needed. * Responsible for staff training and maintaining staff certification requirements. Implement a system to keep staff current in required certifications. Regularly evaluate programs by soliciting response from members and staff. * Responsible for program enrollment, retention, evaluation, and reporting. * Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives; Leads assigned aspects of the fund-raising campaign. * Participates and leads staff meetings and/or related meetings; * Collaborates with other facility and program leaders in engaging and providing excellent programs and customer service. * Performs other duties as assigned. The physical demands of the position include: * Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation. * Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills. * Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull. * Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: * A Bachelor degree or 1 year experience and knowledge in fitness principles and applications as related to exercise physiology, bio-mechanics and exercise prescription required preferred. * ACSM, NASM, NSCA, AFAA or ACE certifications are a plus; at least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred. * Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising. * Enthusiastic, Fun, Great Personality. * Effective organizational and interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication; Bilingual a plus. * Ability to build relationships with staff, members, and participants. * Ability to multi-task, and make sound independent judgments.
