Healthy Living School Lead (Part Time, Contract)
Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge
Salary: $16.40/hour - $20.15/hour
Start Date: September 2025
End Date: June 2026

What qualifications are we looking for?

We strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:

• A Bachelor of Education, Physical Education or a related degree, diploma or equivalent work experience
• A minimum of two years’ experience working with children & youth in an education setting
• Excellent leadership skills in communication, collaboration and flexibility.
• Experience with project management and event planning is an asset
• Availability in the evenings and weekends to meet community and branch needs
• Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John’s Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
• Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
• Three professional references required.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Report to Healthy Living School Supervisor and Experience Manager and working primarily out of Shane Homes YMCA., the Healthy Living School Lead will:

• Provide relief support to the Healthy Living School Supervisor
• Work with the Healthy Living School Supervisor to collaborate with teachers from schools in the community to plan and organize weeks for Healthy Living School.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions for school representatives attending Healthy Living School.
• Host students and teachers attend Healthy Living School by facilitating lessons and leading activities.
• Think creatively to develop the curriculum for Healthy Living School and explore ideas on how to build themes for experiential learning.
• Communicate effectively with schools in the community to plan and facilitate YMCA School Activity Days.
• Candidates must be available for guaranteed shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays during program weeks (20 weeks, September–June), with on-call availability on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
• Periodic meetings may be scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday as needed.
