Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is 4 permanent full time post (37) working five days a week based in Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Stobhill Hospital / Gartnavel General Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital. Audiology site/base may be negotiable,
Greater Glasgow & Clyde forms the largest Health Authority in the UK which provides Audiology services over a large area of inner city and rural populations. The service is currently staffed by a clinical team of Assistant Technical Officers, Hearing Aid Audiologists and Audiologists supported by a dedicated Administration and Clerical Team.
The majority of the service is based within our Acute Hospitals, the service runs independently using its own patient management system and has full autonomy over the booking of patients and scheduling of activities in general. We are looking for highly motivated, flexible person to join our existing hard working and dedicated team.
We would be keen to hear from individuals with current skills and experience in an NHS Audiology service in B3 Audiology Assistant roles, with expertise in using Audiology softwares and hearing aid repair/maintenance. You must be capable to undertake university-level study over two years in addition to working and developing in-post.

Upon qualifying, you will hold a Higher Education Diploma in Hearing Aid Audiology and be able to work fully as a B4 Hearing Aid Audiologist in the NHS. Requirements of this post include:

  • Fully conversant with hearing aid programming softwares for repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Fully conversant with Audiology-specific Audiology softwares.
  • Current experience undertaking NHS-based hearing aid repair clinics and running own patient lists
  • A positive attitude and an ability to work in a team as well as being able to make decisions when working single handed.
  • The ability to problem solve and use initiative.
  • Evidence of and ability to work with hearing impaired individuals and their family/carers.
  • Good knowledge of current working practices within audiology.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to undertake university-level study alongside working in a busy Audiology Service, produce assignments and meet course deadlines
