ilarna are seeking a female, highly professional, self-employed personal assistant (PA)/companion with BSL or deaf awareness skills who is looking for their next position in the Camberwell/Peckham area, London SE5.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This role has a genuine occupational requirement for a female carer
• BSL or deaf awareness essential (training/experience with deaf clients highly desirable)
• Must be self-employed or happy to work as a self-employed carer
• Must have the right to work in the UK (we are unable to offer sponsorship)
• Must hold either a clear Enhanced DBS Certificate issued in the last 6 months OR an Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the DBS Update Service
• Access to a car is desirable for outings and appointments

ABOUT THE ROLE

The PA will support an older adult living with early-stage dementia and hearing loss. Communication is key, so awareness of deaf communication needs (BSL, Signed Supported English, or strong deaf awareness) is essential. The role centres on companionship, social engagement, and light household/practical support to encourage independence and reduce isolation.
