Your application should cover the following criteria:

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

1. Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics.
2. C&G NVQ level 3 Plumbing and Heating or equivalent
3. Minimum ACS Qualifications in CCN1, COCN1, ICPN 1 & TPCP 1A
4. Professional craftsperson with knowledge and expertise in buildings, estates services.
5. Experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues.
6. Experience of implementing policies and procedures.
7. Full driving licence (with no more than six points).

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE

1. Good spoken and written communication skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
2. Strong digital competence across a range digital devices and apps including digital communication tools, Microsoft 365 applications, business systems.
3. Regulatory, local and national professional knowledge and experience of compliance.
4. Industry and regulatory knowledge supported by relevant courses or certifications.
5. Knowledge and experience of health and safety issues such as risk assessments.
6. Experience of contributing to the delivery of Mechanical Engineering Services in residential, educational or commercial buildings, estates, services.
7. Ability to solve problems and decide on and plan appropriate solutions.
8. Ability to provide support for infrastructure projects e.g. building changes.
9. Committed to continuing professional development.
10. Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
11. Ability to participate in networks to share and discuss good practice and exchange information

THE ROLE AND DEPARTMENT

As a member of the Estates and Facilities Directorate directly employed labour team, you will undertake mechanical repairs and maintenance work, to an agreed level, in compliance with industry standards, statutory requirements, and relevant codes of practice in a professional and customer-focussed manner.
The Estates and Facilities Directorate provides essential services to Durham University and is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure and building fabric of the various campuses.
