THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Heating Manager, the Heating Technician will play a key role in supporting customers with heating solutions, quotations, and technical expertise. This role involves preparing detailed heating quotations, assisting with order desk inquiries, and conducting in-depth plan take-offs for HVAC and hydronic equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in heating products, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to collaborate with various teams, including Sales, Purchasing, and Branch Managers.

• Prepare detailed heating quotations for customers as assigned by the Quotations team.
• Handle order desk calls and heating inbox emails to provide prompt customer support.
• Provide technical information and product specifications.
• Assist branches and sales representatives with heating-related inquiries.
• Review floor plans to properly size air conditioning and heating equipment.
• Perform residential and commercial plan take-offs and quotations for all HVAC and hydronic equipment, ducting, and accessories.
• Design in-floor heating systems from floor plans, ensuring proper sizing and material take-offs for quotations.
• Work closely with the Heating Manager to identify sales growth opportunities:
• Assess existing customers and identify opportunities to increase sales.
• Collaborate with the Sales team to prospect and grow new accounts.
• Follow up on heating and HVAC opportunities with customers, vendors, and the Quotation team.
• Stay current on market trends, regulations, and product developments by attending sales meetings, vendor training, and trade shows.
• Regularly review Desco’s heating inventory to optimize product selection:
• Work with Purchasing to recommend new stock items and rationalize existing products.
• Advise Branch Managers on necessary adjustments to order points.
• Support Marketing with product onboarding and promotional needs.
• Maintain vendor relationships and coordinate sales calls, training, demos, and presentations.
• Act as an in-house heating trainer for branches, sales reps, and customers.
• Execute other duties as assigned by the Heating Manager.
