Aguirre & Fields CEI team is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil/Flood Control Inspector III for flood control and transportation construction projects in Houston, TX. The position oversees inspection activities, coordinates with contractors and inspection staff, and ensures work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.     POSITION SUMMARY Direct the inspection and testing activities of Contractor(s) and Inspector(s) to ensure inspection activities are conducted and documented, and that schedules are maintained according to project scope. The ideal candidate will have heavy civil, public works, transportation construction inspection.    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Provide leadership with grit and character by being a good communicator, having an interest in learning, being inspiring, a visionary, a team builder, living our Purpose, helping achieve our Vision, allowing others to shine, taking responsibility, leading by example, and being dependable, respectful, passionate, and an active listener. * Conducts construction inspections to include roadway and bridge elements, traffic control, environmental controls, and other items related to transportation construction projects. * Manages multiple concurrent inspection assignments based on the client’s schedule. * Reviews client construction specifications, drawings, and Federal audit requirements for public construction projects. * Maintains field and office records.  Perform complex quantity and engineering computations.  Reads and interprets plans and specifications. * Verifies that inspection staff is thoroughly familiar with plans and specifications for work and with the preparation of documentation of work performed in accordance with client procedures. * Trains/mentors staff in performing field inspections and materials testing, to verify the quality of work performed and materials used for conformance with the contract, plans, and specifications. * Manages time accordingly to accommodate client requests and project schedule.  * Analyzes situations and implements sound judgment of plans and specifications. * Documents deficiencies and deviations from specifications and plans. * Prepares, edits, and corrects daily work reports, change orders, and pay estimates. * Manages, delegates, and audits all administrative functions associated with a project in accordance with the client’s Construction Manual, including Submittals and Requests for Information. * Identifies, reports, and works out problems with the contractor to achieve compliance per Contract docs. * Schedules testing technicians and inspection staff daily. * Samples materials incorporated into the project. * Oversees contractor submittals and requests for information. * Identify environmental concerns related to the project and monitors contractor environmental compliance * Maintains certifications/training as needed to perform the above duties. * Assists in general office administration duties, as needed. * Communicate with contractors, clients, and staff. * Performs the primary thinking encompassed by this job description. * Performs other duties as assigned by the Regional CEI Lead. * Comply with all company policies, procedures, practices, and rules. * Serve as an example of proper conduct per the Company Guiding Principles. * Live our Purpose and help achieve our Vision. QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma * 5-10 years of relevant (heavy civil, structural concrete, storm sewer) inspection experience * Valid Driver’s license and driving record in good standing * Must be able to stand/sit/walk and lift up to 40lbs to perform required duties * Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally * Relevant technology/software experience preferred * OSHA 10 required   Aguirre & Fields is a team of engineering innovators with grit and character, united by a passion for serving communities where we live and work.
