As a Field Heavy Duty Mechanic, you’ll troubleshoot and perform running repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance across a wide range of Caterpillar Mining Equipment. Your work will include: Trouble shoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment in a field environment Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required Completing required paperwork and maintaining clear customer communication Specific Skills & Experience Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification Clean Drivers’ Abstract (5 yr) 3+ years experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, with demonstrated time in the field Strong skills in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be beneficial Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset Important Details: 7 x 7 Continuous Shift based in Elkford, BC $300/month LOA (Commuters/non-residents (80+ km away) who provide own housing) A condition of employment includes the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable Union Membership: This is a unionized position.
