Responsibilities: To provide some idea of the tasks you may be performing, a list of responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Check excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers and other heavy construction equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment. Service attachments and working tools such as buckets, blades, winches and booms. May perform repair work on heavy trucks. May attach components and adjust new equipment. Maintain service records and preventative maintenance for all equipment. Qualifications: Requirements and qualifications for this position are a combination of skills and attitude. A minimum of 5+ years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment is ideal for this position - journeyperson certification would be an asset. The following qualifications are needed for this role: Collaborative attitude that is team focused Great time management skills Highly organized and tidy Safety conscious Strong problem solving skills Completion of a 4 year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience and industry courses in heavy equipment repair. 4+ years of experience working on heavy civil construction equipment Legally able to work in Canada
Responsibilities
The mechanic will inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, and loaders to ensure optimal performance. They are also responsible for performing routine maintenance, servicing attachments, and maintaining accurate service records.
