Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy equipment
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, engine, and mechanical issues
  • Support maintenance of other facility equipment as required
  • Heavy Equipment Maintenance: In-depth knowledge of wheel loaders, skid steers, and other mobile equipment used in industrial/agricultural settings.
  • Hydraulic Systems: Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and hoses.
  • Engine & Transmission Repair: Expertise in diesel engines, powertrains, and drivetrain components.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Experience setting up and following preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Ability to use diagnostic tools for identifying mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Welding & Fabrication (Preferred): Basic to advanced welding and metal fabrication for repair work.
  • Electrical Knowledge: Basic understanding of 12V/24V electrical systems in mobile equipment.
  • Knowledge of Lubrication Systems: Greasing, oiling, and fluid checks for heavy-duty machines.
  • Brake & Steering Systems: Ability to inspect and repair heavy equipment brake systems.
  • Safety Regulations: Understanding of workplace safety, lockout/tagout procedures, and equipment compliance standards.
  • Reading diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Installing machinery and mechanical equipment using hand and power tools
  • Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
  • Adjusting machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts
  • Operating machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
  • Ensuring operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installations
  • Keeping detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Adhering to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
  • Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe work area
  • Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures
  • Transfer equipment to the applicable site for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards
  • Performing other related duties as assigned at other locations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or equivalent (preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Class 5 or higher; ability to operate heavy machinery is an asset).
  • Safety Certifications such as WHMIS, First Aid, or Forklift/Loader operation (asset).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to diagnose issues quickly and provide effective solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures high-quality repairs and accurate record-keeping.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-demand environment.
  • Teamwork: Works well with other maintenance staff and operations team.
