Description

GFL Environmental is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grinder Operator for a full-time, permanent position at our Northlands Landfill facility. The successful candidate will be a safety-oriented professional with extensive knowledge of industrial grinders and proficiency in operating other heavy equipment. This is a high-priority role for a key member of our landfill operations team, reporting directly to the Landfill Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of high-speed and slow-speed grinders is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency operating 20 to 35-tonne excavators and large loaders.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is essential;
  • Commitment to and understanding of workplace safety regulations.
  • Must be willing and able to wear a respirator for extended periods as required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently operate and maintain high-speed and slow-speed industrial grinders.
  • Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Proficiently operate 20 to 35-tonne excavators and medium-to-large front-end loaders to manage and feed material.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation related to equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures, including the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as a respirator, both inside and outside of equipment cabs.
  • Work a flexible schedule that includes both daytime and periodic evening shifts.
