MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum 5 level or equal and five (5) years’ experience in their respective trade.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the problem diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of heavy and/or specialized automotive equipment.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Military experience in this field is highly desirable but not required.
  • Ability to meet the security requirements to obtain flight line access badge.
  • Must complete the required airfield driving training IAW AAAFI 13-213, Ascension Airfield OI.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.

  • Must have previous experience as a Lead in a similar role.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and passport.
  • Must complete and maintain certification to operate a vehicle on the airfield, to include meeting all color vision testing IAW AFMAN 13-204v1.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
Responsibilities

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Provides the program planning and execution, and supervision of contract labor to meet all heavy equipment (to include crane operations)/pavement/ground maintenance requirements and support the mission of the AAAF. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enforce crane lift plans for all hazardous, mission essential equipment, and items requiring dual crane lifts.
  • Ensure Amentum Safety, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) and Environmental procedures are complied with.
  • Assures that machinery is maintained properly, and fluid levels are adequate.
  • Operator may read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans, and may grease, adjust and make minor emergency repairs to equipment.
  • Supervises the Operation of hydraulic, pneumatic, gasoline/diesel powered equipment including such as pavers, spreaders and compaction/roller equipment involved in asphalt and concrete paving projects.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair the runway, taxiways, and all other pavements.
  • Perform work pertaining to materials for pavement surface construction and repairs.
  • Perform runway re-marking (to include use of glass beads) IAW UFC guidelines and repairs as required by the USAF AFM.
  • Remove rubber accumulations and shall repaint faded markings as required by the USAF AFM so as to ensure safe air operations IAW Ascension Rubber Removal Plan.
  • Maintain the integrity of ground surfaces, waterfront structures, and shorelines to prevent soil erosion.
  • Perform landscape maintenance, including grass mowing; edging; trash removal (including utility poles); controlling of grass and weeds; pruning of trees, shrubs, and hedges; mulching; and replacing or adding plant material.
  • Clean cattle guards to ensure function.
  • Inspect and clean all areas, including improved grounds, parking lots, shrub and flowerbeds, sidewalks, breezeways and recreation areas.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair drainage systems to ensure continuous free flow of water runoff and prevent flooding of critical areas, facilities or roadways.
