HEAVY EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

This position is responsible for the diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance on our company heavy haul truck fleet.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate is required, with Red Seal endorsement.
- Experience working with Cummins engines.
- Minimum of 5 years’ of both field and shop experience is required
- Knowledge of other heavy equipment would be an asset
- Demonstrates good judgment and think problems through where applicable, and suggests improvements on job quality
REQUIREMENTS
- Service truck required.
- Must have (or be willing and able to obtain) CSTS-09 or CSO, Intermediate First Aid, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Level 2 or Equivalent, Intermediate Wildlife
- Valid class 1 driver’s license with clean commercial abstract is required
- Alcohol, Drug and fit to work testing is a pre-employment requirement for all safety sensitive positions.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and inspect heavy haul truck fleet.
- Diagnose faults and malfunctions to determine the extent of repair required.
- Complete repairs and/or maintenance.
- Keep vehicles cleaned, lubricated, and maintained.
- Adjust vehicles and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems.
- Liaises with Shop Supervisor regarding needed repairs.
- Orders materials/parts as required.
- Responsible for ensuring that all work is complete in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inputs data from all time sheets, materials, and equipment information for purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Performs minor work on heavy equipment fleet as required.
- Performs work effectively and safely in shops or outdoor construction site environments.
- Champions safety culture by operating in a safe manner, follows Morgan’s safe work procedures, follows Morgan’s PPE policies and practices and reports all near misses and/or incidents to management.
