Description POSITION SUMMARY: The main responsibility of the Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform and schedule preventive maintenance and diagnose and repair a variety of equipment. FUNCTIONS: Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment malfunctions on all major systems including gas and diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, drivelines, generators, rear-end assemblies, carburetors, and hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and cooling systems, etc. Perform inspection and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, buildings and facilities Communicate with leadership and operations to appropriately schedule any repairs and/or downtime of specific trucks or equipment Ensure maintenance shop is maintained in a clean, safe, and organized manner Requisition parts and equipment Prepare a schedule for routine maintenance and communicate the schedule to drivers, operators, and management Perform all work safely and in compliance with Company and OSHA Standards Other duties and tasks as assigned Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: MN Health Card Required Class A Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement, preferred Previous experience working on off-road heavy equipment Welding, cutting and fabricating skills COMPETENCIES: Ethical Conduct Communication Proficiency Technical Capacity Organizational Skills Punctuality WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
