Description Plaisted Companies is looking for a dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to help keep our pit equipment running safely, efficiently, and ready for production. If you take pride in diagnosing problems, making quality repairs, and keeping a clean, organized shop, we’d like to meet you. What You’ll Do Repair and service heavy equipment and vehicles assigned to you (Equipment includes Wheel loaders, Packers/Rollers, Dozers, Excavators, Conveyer Belts, Haul Trucks, Screen Decks, Wash Plants) Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and routine inspections Identify additional issues before they become costly breakdowns Maintain a clean, safe work area and properly store tools/equipment daily Work in compliance with OSHA/MSHA standards Track parts/materials used and record labor daily Support shop and pit operations as needed Requirements REQUIREMENTS Education Required: None Preferred: Mechanical Trade School Licensing/Registration/Certification Required: Commercial Operators License Required: MSHA Certifications Preferred: ASE Certification Experience Required: One year experience in a maintenance environment Preferred: Three years experience in a maintenance environment Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Demonstrate the proven ability to work with work teams. Must have mathematical aptitude, written and verbal communication skills. Experience and awareness of maintenance and repair practices. Physical Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods. This position will be occasionally required to lie down, bend and stoop. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate through the warehouse. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds utilizing team lifting or mechanical assistance as needed. Must be able to see and hear normal maintenance equipment. Must be able to clearly see and distinguish colors and patterns. Environment The shop and pit are partially environmentally controlled areas with extremes of heat or cold. Maintenance and repairs may require work outside the shop and will be subject to the extremes of the local environment, particularly heat and cold.
Responsibilities
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will repair and service heavy equipment and vehicles, performing diagnostics and preventative maintenance. They will also maintain a clean and safe work area while supporting shop and pit operations.
