Qualifications:

  • 1st & 2nd year apprentices, non-ticketed applicants and anyone wanting to begin their apprenticeship are welcome.
  • Previous experience in a mechanical or shop environment is an asset
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, crouching)
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with tools
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Safety certifications such as CSTS, WHMIS, or First Aid are considered assets
  • Capable of writing and managing work orders
  • A motivated and punctual self-starter
  • Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Must have their own tool

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Assist mechanics with the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment (e.g., mulchers, bunchers, skidders, processors, tandems etc)
  • Prepare tools, equipment, and parts for service jobs
  • Clean, organize, and maintain the shop and work areas
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks such as oil and filter changes, greasing, fluid checks etc.
  • Deliver and retrieve tools, parts, and equipment as needed
  • Record and report observations to lead mechanic or supervisor
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Use proper PPE and participate in safety meetings and hazard assessments
  • Must be able to work overtime (weekends or extended hours during weekdays)
  • Adhere to the all Company Policies
  • Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor
