JOB DESCRIPTION:

Caron Equipment is seeking skilled Heavy Equipment Operators to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will operate and maintain various pieces of heavy construction and earth moving equipment to ensure the completion of construction and excavation projects safely and efficiently. This role is vital for the success of operations in environments such as construction sites, mines, and roadwork projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment in a similar role.
  • Valid heavy equipment operation or commercial driver’s license, as required by local regulations.
  • Strong understanding of construction, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and varying weather.
  • Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
  • Good communication abilities and the capacity to work in a team environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to operate equipment for long hours, often in poor weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Good vision and hand-eye coordination to operate machines and tools safely.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and graders to perform tasks such as digging, spreading and levelling earth, and material transportation.
  • Conduct per-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate, and refill equipment as necessary.
  • Understand and follow blueprints and site plans to meet project specifications.
  • Comply with all safety policies and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Communicate with other construction team members using radio or other communication tools to ensure safe and effective coordination of operations.
  • Report any faults or irregularities in equipment performance promptly to the maintenance team.
  • Maintain accurate logs or records as required (e.g., usage hours, fuel consumption).
  • Assist with routine maintenance and emergency repairs of the equipment.
  • Adhere to environmental regulations and company policies regarding the handling and disposal of materials.
