QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
The Heavy Equipment Operator will demonstrate the following abilities in their daily work:
(i) Frequently rotating (right/left) – check/see mirrors, blind spots
(ii) Eye/hand and eye/hand foot coordination
(iii) Repeating the same movement – body rotation, feet and hand controls
(iv) Gripping and reaching
(v) Sitting for long periods of time
(vi) Climbing – stairs/ladders; getting in and out of equipment

ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the following:
(i) You must check in with your Supervisor immediately
(ii) This is not deemed as personal time and you may be assigned alternative tasks – you are expected to perform work that moves the company forward, while on company time
(iii) If the repair is going to take a significant amount of time and there is no alternative work, your shift will end
(iv) Ensure you have clear instructions for your next shift at work, from your Supervisor, before leaving the site

FUNCTIONAL ROLE
As Heavy Equipment Operator, you safely operate articulated rock trucks, tractor-loader-backhoes, excavators, and dozers used in land clearing activities and the construction of roads, utilities, buildings to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials. You are also responsible for the basic maintenance of equipment, safety around equipment, and the compliance of markers, grades, and stakes. The Heavy Equipment Operator must perform all work to regulated organizational, as well as provincial and federal standards and procedures and adhere to the highest standards of safety.
