Description We are seeking a Railroad Heavy Equipment Operator for the Buck #1 Prep Plant in Oakwood, VA. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining heavy machinery used to perform ditch work, and load coal trucks. This role requires strong mechanical skills, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a mobile field crew in outdoor environments and variable conditions. Key Responsibilities: Safely operate various types of heavy equipment used in railroad construction and maintenance, including but not limited to: Excavators ( Size 305 to 330) to work on ditches and load trucks. Front end loaders ( Size 972 to 992) to load coal trucks and rock trucks Bulldozers (D-3 to D-10) to perform reclamation work on steep slopes Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, transportation, or railroad settings. Ability to lift 50+ lbs, bend, stoop, and perform physically demanding tasks. Valid driver’s license. Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays). Must pass drug screening, physical, and meet company safety and security requirements. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with FRA and OSHA safety regulations. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
