POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Our Heavy Equipment Operators operate heavy equipment such as Quadtrac tractors with scrapers, bulldozers, excavators and rollers. Operators are needed on all types of projects, such as highways and bridges, residential, and industrial construction. Operators typically operate equipment for up to 10-12 hours per day and 5-6 days per week. Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform light maintenance such as cleaning/greasing equipment, checking fluids, and fueling equipment. Some manual labor required such as shoveling.
McAninch Corporation utilizes CAT equipment. Applicants should be proficient with CAT controls.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Operate heavy equipment safely and as directed by foremen.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time, typically up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, kneel, crawl and squat as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 75 lbs independently.
  • Ability to fuel equipment by carrying a 2 ½ inch fuel line to the machine, climb on the machine and fuel.
  • Availability to work 10-12 hours per day. A typical week is approximately 50-60 hours. Some weekends required based on production deadlines and weather delays.
  • Ability to work outside 100% of the time, including in hot, cold and wet conditions. Employees are expected to dress appropriately.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 or more years experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Reliable transportation to report directly to the job site each morning.
  • Must be available to travel as projects are awarded, typically up to 3 weeks at a time.
  • Experience in construction or education in industrial technology or a trade school preferred.
  • Experience using basic hand tools (hammer, sledgehammer, shovel) or specialty tools (quickie-saw, pipe cutter, etc.) preferred.
