JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Heavy Equipment Operator at North Coast Excavation and Trucking Ltd., you will play a vital role in our construction projects by operating various types of heavy machinery. This position requires expertise in excavation and grading, as well as the ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints, elevation plans, foundation plans, and grade slips. You will work on diverse terrains and in various weather conditions, collaborating with site supervisors, project managers, and other team members to ensure safe and efficient project completion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in the construction industry.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plus.
  • Residential excavation experience is a bonus.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, site plans, and construction documents.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Certifications in equipment operation (e.g., OSHA, NCCER) are preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and loaders.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance to ensure machinery is in safe working condition.
  • Execute excavation, grading, trenching, and backfilling tasks according to project specifications and safety standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, elevation plans, foundation plans, grade slips, and other construction documents.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and other crew members to coordinate tasks and meet project timelines.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and company policies at all times.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or project delays to the supervisor.
  • Assist in manual labor tasks as needed, including site preparation and clean-up.
