Description

Onocon Group is seeking a full-time Machine Operator to join the team. We perform various residential, commercial, and industrial projects in the Greater Toronto Area.
Qualifications/Skills
· Minimum 6+ years’ experience in the construction industry or comparable field.
· Proficient in minimum 2 types of equipment (skid-steer/excavator/Back-hoe/loader/dozer/compaction equipment).
· Proficient in excavating or grading to desired grades independently.
· Experienced of trench excavation safe for workers.
· Experienced of operating with trench safety equipment.
· Proficient of earth/granular pile/casting management to insure work is completed without multi-handling.
· Proficient in loader/skid-steer snow plowing.
· Honest and forthright character.
· Accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
· Attentive to detail and always alert to ensure safety policies and understand quality control procedures.
· Ability to perform in a collaborative, team-based environment.
· Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
· Proficient with GPS/Laser system.
· Ability to mentor/train jr. operators.
· Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing and, access to a reliable vehicle.
· Operators equipment training (preferred).
· WHMIS (mandatory).
· Working at Heights (preferred).
· Standard First Aid (preferred).
Responsibilities
· Earthwork using multiple pieces of equipment.
· Grade dirt & granular materials efficiently and accurately
· Care, clean, and organize equipment in shop and at a job site.
· Inspect and maintain equipment supplies such as fuel, oil, fluids, tires, lights, etc. in order to ensure that equipment are in proper working condition.
· Operate and handle company vehicles and equipment safely and according to the manufacturer’s guidelines and company policies.
· Report any mechanical problems encountered with equipment and immediately notify supervisor.
· Follow established safety rules and regulations
· Must always be in uniform and maintain a standard of personal hygiene.
· Oblige to Health & Safety rules and regulations.
· Quality of work should meet or exceed industry standards and company expectations.
· Timeliness and reliability in meeting deadlines and project milestones are critical.
Work Conditions
· Work is primarily outdoors, with occasional indoor tasks. Employees will be exposed to various weather conditions and work environments, including confined spaces and heights.
· Use of PPE is mandatory at all times on the job site, including hard hats, safety vests, gloves, and eye protection.
· The employee will be exposed to and working near moving materials and heavy equipment.
· Able to lift 50 lbs overhead and meet the physical demands of the job.
