Location: Port St Lucie. to start. potential travel require
Job Type: Full Time
Pay: $[24] – $[30] per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Occasional weekends/overtime as needed)

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator with proven pipe laying and underground utility installation experience. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, highly skilled in operating a variety of equipment, and able to work effectively as part of a crew to meet demanding project schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment operating experience in excavation and underground utility work.
  • Strong knowledge of pipe laying procedures (stormwater, sanitary sewer, waterline).
  • Ability to read blueprints, grade stakes, and understand elevations.
  • Experience with trench boxes, shoring, and safe excavation practices.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Willingness to travel within Florida and Georgia as projects require.
  • Safety-first mindset with knowledge of OSHA standards.

Preferred Skills

  • Federal project or USACE (Army Corps of Engineers) experience.
  • Ability to lead or mentor junior operators and laborers.

Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, and rollers safely and efficiently.
  • Perform excavation for underground utilities including storm, sanitary sewer, and water lines.
  • Assist and coordinate with pipe laying crews to ensure proper grade, alignment, and installation.
  • Read and understand blueprints, grade stakes, and layout provided by survey/layout teams.
  • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Follow all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company policies on federal and commercial projects.
  • Communicate clearly with site supervisors, foremen, and crew members.
  • Support general labor tasks as needed to ensure project success.
