Position Scope The Nuna Group of Companies is now recruiting for a Heavy Equipment Operator Program Developer. Nuna is the largest Inuit-owned heavy civil construction, earthworks and mine construction contractor in Canada. The Heavy Equipment Operator Program Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting a comprehensive heavy equipment operator training program in alignment with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This role leads the development of structured, competency-based curricula for students and operators, covering classroom learning, simulator training, and hands-on field experience. Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners such as Kiikenomaga Kikenjigewen Employment & Training Services (KKETS), the Program Developer ensures training schedules, materials, safety orientation, and operating procedures are consistent, effective, and scalable. The role plays a critical part in building operator competence, supporting safe operations, and enabling successful program delivery. Responsibilities Specific Accountabilities: Training Program and Curriculum Development Training Materials and Learning Methods Development Program Coordination & Intake Scheduling Program Implementation & Support Qualifications Work Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of hands-on heavy equipment operating experience. Minimum five (5) years in training delivery, mentoring, curriculum development, or program design. Minimum five (5) years of leadership (supervisor or management) experience. Minimum two (2) years of experience using learning or training management systems (LMS). Experience developing competency-based or student-focused training programs. Familiarity with simulators and blended learning models is an asset. Education: Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Operator or equivalent combination of education and experience. Adult Education, Training, or Instructional Design certification is an asset. Post secondary education is considered an asset. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements: Advanced technical knowledge of heavy equipment operations and associated hazards across multiple environments, including maintenance fundamentals (servicing, tire work, steaming, etc.). Ability to design structured curricula and learning pathways Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience working with external partners and training organizations Excellent organizational, documentation, and planning skills Ability to work effectively in classroom, simulator, and field environments Proficiency with Microsoft Office and learning management systems Ability to research, interpret, and apply new information and best practices Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, and knowledge of their diverse cultures, perspectives, and workforce development needs, are considered assets Understanding of adult learning principles and instructional techniques How to Apply: Interested applicants are asked to apply online at www.nunagroup.com or by email hr@nunagroup.com.
