Summary: The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible to for operating heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner. Heavy equipment may include, but is not limited to trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, snowblowers and other pieces of equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment. Role Priorities / Responsibilities: * Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant policies and procedures in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life * Perform daily safety and maintenance checks * Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required * Advise the Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs * Participate in routine maintenance * Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored * Practice workplace safety * Maintain inventory Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Ability to operate single axel trucks in a safe and responsible manner * Ability and experience to operate specific equipment required * Certified in relevant heavy equipment as applicable and required * Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner * Analytical and problem solving skills * Stress management and time management skills Working Conditions: * The Heavy Equipment Operator has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Heavy Equipment Operator will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. The Heavy Equipment Operator must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way. * The Heavy Equipment Operator must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection. * The Heavy Equipment Operator must work independently and is expected to maintain a schedule of work. Any problems or inconveniences may result in increased stress to complete tasks in a limited time.

Responsibilities

The operator is responsible for safely operating various heavy machinery, including loaders, dozers, and graders. They must also perform daily maintenance checks, clean equipment, and ensure all machinery is securely stored.
